Grad School Options - Graduate Schools and Programs

Career Center

Graduate Schools and Programs

There are two types of graduate programs, those for professional degrees and those that prepare you for academic and/or research careers. Professional degrees include MD, JD, and MBA. Academic degrees are most often the Ph.D and Ed.D. There are, however, no set rules, so talk to people doing the work you want to do and explore all options.

As you evaluate schools and programs, keep the following in mind:

  • The reputation of the faculty
  • The quality of the program
  • Financial costs of the program
  • Program requirements
  • Available course offerings
  • Facilities
  • Program outcomes
  • Geographic location
  • Student life
