Scholarship
Goal 1. Foster significant faculty research.
- 1a. Increase funding for conference travel and travel to research sites (archives, libraries, museums, etc.)
- 1b. Hold regular departmental research symposia where faculty can present the results of their research and receive feedback.
Goal 2. Foster more intimate links between scholarship and teaching.
- 2a. Encourage faculty to design and teach upper division courses whose material correlates more directly with their research interests.
- 2b. Invite advanced students to faculty research symposia.
- 2c. Support and publicize the annual art history spring symposium where juniors and seniors present the results of their research to faculty, majors and minors, as well as invited guests.
Goal 3. Improve our physical plant so that faculty offices better meet our scholarship and teaching needs.
- 3a. Install elevator so that students with disabilities may access the Department Office and the offices of all art historians and some studio faculty members.
