Maurizio Berlincioni was born in Florence in 1943 and began to photograph in the late 1960’s. He has traveled extensively in Europe and the U.S. and has always been attracted by the social scene and experimental photography.

He started as a freelance photojournalist and in 1977 opened a commercial studio in Florence as an industrial, architectural, and portrait photographer. He has had many one-man and group exhibitions both in Italy and abroad and portfolios of his photographs have been published by major Italian and foreign photography magazines. In 1984 he presented his “Giant Super & Vicinity” as a one man exhibition at the De Saisset Museum of the University of Santa Clara.

He has published several books, including Tuscania, Giant Super & Vicinity, Caro Arno, Fotocoppie, La Fortezza Spagnola, Un Parco Produttivo: Lavori in Corso, Pietrasanta Arte e Lavoro, and more recently Wenzhou-Firenze, an extensive reportage on the Chinese community in Florence. He has also published some monographs on theatre and architecture and has worked with film directors, Ettore Scola and Bigas Luna, as a portrait and still photographer.

His photographs are included in several public and private collections.

He has been professor of Photography at the Academy of Fine Arts of Carrara and the Academy of Fine Arts of Florence. Currently, he holds the same position at the Academy of Fine Arts of Bologna.
