Research

Karen Rapp specializes in modern and contemporary art.  She teaches a two-quarter sequence on land, place, and environment, which considers the intersection of landscape and art beginning in Song Dynasty China and continuing up through contemporary environmental practice.  She has worked at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and has taught at a number of Bay Area institutions.  Her current research considers the legacies of earthworks art in contemporary site-based work.
