Brigid Barton

Brigid Barton specializes in modern European art. She teaches the lower-division survey of modern art, as well as upper division courses in nineteenth and twentieth century art and culture. Barton did her undergraduate work at Barnard College of Columbia University, majoring in Art History, and then earned her M.A. and Ph.D. in Art History at U.C. Berkeley. Her special area of interest is German modernism, particularly the period of the Weimar Republic in the 1920's. She has written a book on the German artist Otto Dix as well as exhibition catalogues and articles on European and American modern art. The Red Boats
