| Blake de Maria earned her doctoral degree in Renaissance and Baroque Art from Princeton University in 2003. A specialist in Venetian art and architecture, Dr. de Maria teaches a wide variety of courses focusing on early modern Mediterranean art and culture, including 'The Art of Power, Rome 1400-1600' and 'The Family in 15th century Florence' as well as the advanced seminars, 'Venice and the Other in the Renaissance' and 'Early Islamic Art & Culture.' Her own research focuses on the visual culture associated with immigrant communities in Renaissance Venice. She is currently completing a manuscript entitled "Becoming Venetian: Immigrants and the Arts in Early Modern Venice". |
