The Academy of American Franciscan History  A research institute dedicated to the encouragement of the study of the Franciscan Order in the Americas.

Archivos Espanoles A site maintained by the Spanish Ministry of Culture which is the gateway to a dozen archives in Spain, including the Archivo General de Indias in Seville.

Archivo Franciscano [Mexico City] Digital reproductions of the first 795 documets in Ignacio del Rio, Guia del Archivo Franciscano (1975).

Archivo General del la Nacion [Mexico City] The Mexican national archives. Finding guides to a number of documentary collections are searchable on the web.

Online Archive of California A constantly expanding collection of finding guides, images and texts from a variety of California libraries and historical insititutions.

California State Archives  Contains many records relating to Spanish and Mexican California. See espacially the list of land grant maps.

Documentary Relations of the Southwest  A rich collection of documents relating to the northern frontier of New Spain. Finding guides are searchable on the web.

Early California Population Project A project of the Huntington Library. An indispensable searchable database of California mission records during the Spanish and Mexican periods.

Instituto Nacional de Arqueologia e Historia [Mexico City]  The federal Mexican government bureau established to guarantee the research, preservation, protection, and promotion of the prehistoric, archaeological, anthropological, historical, and paleontological heritage of Mexico.

Instituto de Investigaciones Historicas [Tijuana] A division of the Universidad Autonoma de Baja California, this site contains online articles from the Instituto's scholarly journal Calafia.

Mission 2000 A searchable database of Spanish and Mexican mission records from northern New Spain.   

Web de Anza Contains many primary sources and other information on the Anza expeditions.
