My chemistry background has been a great help to me in my job as a
clinical pathologist. I am a founding member of the Monterey Bay Laboratory Training Network and we try to encourage students to pursue laboratory careers by participating in high school and college career-oriented events. Medical laboratories in California are suffering from shortages of trained personnel, and the current number of students training in medical laboratory science will not be enough to replace all who are retiring.
