Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry

For students especially interested in biochemistry, a modified set of requirements leads to the B.S. degree. All of the B.S. degree programs make it possible to use the first quarter of the senior year to study abroad.  Note that Chem 141 and 143 can be used in partial satisfaction of the requirements for a biotechnology minor.

  15 - Introduction to Research
  31, 32, 33 - Organic Chemistry I, II, III

Upper-Division Chemistry Courses:
  101 - Bioinorganic Chemistry
  111 - Instrumental Analysis
  115 - Chemistry & Biochemistry Seminar - must take 4 times
  141 - Biochemistry I
  142 - Biochemistry II
  143 - Biochemical Techniques
  150 - Biophysical Chemistry
  151 - Spectroscopy or 152 - Chemical Thermodynamics

Two Upper-Division Chemistry Electives
  Choose from  102, 130, 131, 151 or 152, 183, 184, 190  
Biology 110, 113, 174, or 176 may be taken in lieu of one upper division chem elective
