Suggested Upper-division Course ClustersStudents should consult with their advisers about both how and whether it might be advisable to choose a cluster of upper division courses that form a coherent program in their major. The following clusters are suggested, but not required. Students may, in fact, create their own clusters, by choosing courses that help prepare them for specific careers or personal interests. Journalism students, for example, might also be interested in conflict, gender, or persuasion; film students might also be interested in oral storytelling or persuasion; pre-law students might wish to specialize in entertainment law and, thus, create an emphasis in film production, screenwriting, and broadcast journalism (as well as suggested pre-law courses).
