Journalism Lab

The journalism lab in the Arts and Sciences Building serves journalism, design, and research methods classes. The lab, containing 22 workstations, offers students a full range of computer applications, including newspaper design and web design editors. The lab is available for classroom and student use.



Hardware

Hardware in all SCU labs are on a three-year cycle. The current specifications for machines are:

  • Pentium 4, 2.26 GHz processor
  • 512 MB of RAM
  • 18 GB hard disk space
  • HP 8000 networked laser printer
  • 3 Scanners
  • Iomega Zip Drives and Digital Card Readers




Software
  • Windows XP
  • Microsoft Office 2000 (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Adobe Premier, Photoshop, and Acrobat
  • QuarkXpress
  • SPSS
  • Statquest
  • Macromedia Dreamweaver
  • Software also loaded on machines on an as needed basis
