Director of Forensics and Internship Coordinator
Academic/professional background: Mr. Jaich has a B.A. in Government from University of San Francisco, is president of the Pacific Fornesics League, and director of NCFCA National Tournament. Also, he attended graduate school for speech and languages, focusing on heritage language retention of 3rd gengeration immigrants at San Francisco State.
Before becoming a Santa Clara University faculty member, Jaich coached debate at Skyline College and San Francisco State. He has taught speech and debate courses at the high school and college level since 1981.
Teaching areas/responsibilities: Mr. Jaich coordinates the internship program, coaches the SCU debate team, and advises students within the department.
Research interests: Mr. Jaich's central academic interest is debate and public policy, more specifically the role of debate in American politics, jurisprudence, and foreign policy formation. Also, Jaich consulted on curriculum and management issues for non-profit organizations and private schools statewide with particular emphasis on developing courses and activities in debate, politics, and civil engagement. Jaich's most recent publication was a curriculum project for the PBS television series "The American President."
