Faculty Positions: Quarterly Part Time- Fall 2008

Position Title: Lecturer

Status: Quarterly Part Time (QPT)

Overview:

The Department of Communication at Santa Clara University is receiving applications to teach one course in interpersonal communication for the fall quarter, 2008.

Qualifications: M. A. or Ph.D. with expertise and experience teaching undergraduate courses involving communication theory and interpersonal communication.

Rank and Salary: Lecturer, Quarterly Part Time; $5,200-$5,900 per course (salary dependent on enrollment).

Starting Date: September 22, 2008

Application Deadline: July 15, 2008

Responsibilities:

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Teaching one section of Comm 001 –Introduction to Interpersonal Communication during fall quarter; other courses may be assigned in place of this courses should department needs match expertise of the QPT lecturer hired.
  • Fulfilling all responsibilities associated with assigned courses, including
    1. Conducting all assigned class meetings and individual conferences with students;
    2. Assigning and evaluating work that aligns with the Department’s learning outcomes for the course;
    3. Holding weekly office hours on campus;
    4. Submitting student grades to the Registrar by the designated deadline;
    5. Fulfilling other instructional or academic duties as may be assigned by the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences or the Chair of the Department.
