Eligibility Guidelines- Classes of 2012 & 2013


To qualify as a member of the Communication Honor Society, you must:

  • Be a Communication Major or Minor in good standing with the university
  • Must have completed at least 90 units of  coursework
  • Must have completed at least 18 units in Communication
  • Have a minimum GPA of 3.00 for all coursework
  • Have a minimum GPA of 3.50 in COMM courses
  • Rank in the top 35% of your class
  • Participate in a service project each quarter

If you believe you qualify and are interested in joining, please complete and submit the form below. We will be in touch with you after your qualifications have been verified. You can also stop by the Communication Office to fill out the paperwork.
 
The service requirement will be directed by the faculty advisor and will support the academic goals of the department, which may include special projects sponsored by faculty, hosting department Open House, Preview day and Grad School panels, and other works.

The membership fee (which is paid to the parent organization, the National Communication Association) is a one-time fee of $30.00 (mandatory), plus $9.00 for an honor cord to be worn at graduation (if desired). This payment, made out to Santa Clara University and submitted to Helen Otero is due within 7 days of notification that you are eligible to join.
