Terri Peretti
Associate Dean
Terri Peretti is an associate professor in the Department of Political Science, serving as Chair from 2002 to 2006. She teaches courses in Constitutional law, judicial politics, and U.S. politics and won SCU’s David Logothetti Teaching Award in 2005. She also serves as a University pre-law advisor.
Prof. Peretti earned a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Kansas and an M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, all in political science. Her research focuses on the U.S. Supreme Court, constitutional interpretation, and judicial selection. Publications include In Defense of a Political Court (Princeton University Press 1999) and articles on the recruitment, selection, and tenure of Supreme Court justices, the 14th Amendment’s state action doctrine, and judicial independence. She recently attended conferences on human rights and legal reform at Kyoto University, Central European University, and University of Columbia Law School.
Dr. Peretti joined the Dean’s Office in September 2009.
