Kathleen Villarruel Schneider

Senior Assistant Dean


Senior Assistant Dean Kathleen Villarruel Schneider came to Santa Clara University in 1995.

Kathleen received her B.A. in political science from Loyola Marymount University in 1984, where she graduated magna cum laude from the Honors Program.  At LMU, Kathleen played for the women’s basketball team. She was a member of Alpha Sigma Nu, the Jesuit Honor Society, and president of Pi Gamma Mu, the political science student organization. She received her J.D. degree from the University of Southern California Gould School of Law in 1987. She was a member of the Southern California Law Review, and was Notes Editor in 1986-87. Her publication in the Law Review addressed international law and the Sanctuary Movement. She received Honors at Graduation in the area of international law.

Kathleen passed the Bar examination in California and was sworn into the Bar in 1987. She practiced law with Wyman Bautzer Kuchel and Silbert in Century City until 1991 when she went to work for American Real Estate Group as in-house counsel for American Savings Bank, F.A., and its related entities. There, Kathleen managed a large nationwide litigation portfolio and provided advice to senior executives.
