About Us

Its overall intent of the Justice and the Arts Initiative will be to foster a culture in which the arts and social justice become an integral, vital dimension of campus life.

Projects adopted by J.A.I. include continuation of a relationship with Artists Striving to End Poverty (A.S.T.E.P.) and assistance with a student and faculty Social Justice and the Arts trip, planned to El Salvador during Spring break of 2008.  The Social Justice and the Arts Seminar is scheduled to be taught in Spring of 2008. J.A.I. will also sponsor several round table forums to facilitate conversation with others on campus who are already actively involved with social justice and the arts.

We look forward to building relationships with local, national and international artists whose work is deeply committed to issues of social justice. Together,we wish to further elevate and raise awareness of social justice and the arts throughout the university and greater community.
