The CSET is required of all elementary school teachers in California. We recommend taking it in your senior year or the summer after your senior year. It tests knowledge of all the subjects taught by elementary school teachers.

The requirement that elementary school teachers take the CSET exam is a result of federal education legislation, "No Child Left Behind" (NCLB).
