Brett Johnson Solomon, Ph.D.
has nearly a decade of administrative experience in community service organizations that serve children and youth in both Northern and Southern California. She is the co-founder and former executive director of Girls Incorporated of San Mateo County, and is an educational consultant for the Life Learning Academy; Delancy Street Foundation’s charter high school serving delinquent and dependent students. A native of Southern California, Dr. Solomon is a former faculty member of the Child Development department at Los Angeles City College. A Child Development Specialist by trade, Dr. Solomon is also the former owner of Johnson Developmental Consulting, a Los Angeles-based consulting firm that provided infant and child developmental evaluations, and professional training for individuals working with children, youth, and families at risk. Dr. Solomon’s research interests include social and emotional development among adolescent girls and how environmental influences impact social decision-making. Dr. Solomon is currently on the faculty in the Liberal Studies Program at Santa Clara University, where she is also the Director of the Office for College Special Programs. She earned her Ph.D. and M.A. in Educational Psychology from UCLA. She also has a Master of Education in Early Childhood Risk and Prevention from Harvard University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Social Welfare from U.C. Berkeley.
