Language Placement ExamFrench or SpanishBackground and purpose of the examThis exam is used for determining language preparedness and placement at the elementary levels in French or Spanish. Who should take the exam?Students who have previously studied either French or Spanish who would like to determine the current strength of their language skills in order to enroll in the course that most closely matches their ability. Content of the examThe exam tests reading comprehension through multiple-choice questions based on readings of short paragraphs. The exam modifies the difficulty level of the questions based upon the exam takers right or wrong answers. Timing of the examThe exam typically takes from 15 – 30 minutes, depending on how much time is needed for the exam taker to read paragraphs and answer questions. Printing your exam scoreWhen you complete the exam, you should make a note of your score and placement suggestion. No email will be sent. If you need your score at a later time, you simply log into the exam, fill in the top portion of the survey as you did when they took the exam, and then press the resume button. (This process also works if the exam is interrupted--as long as you have answered at least one question.) On the scoring screen, should also be a recommended course listed, see chart below:
