Youth, Technology, & Revolution: The Case of Tunisia and Egypt

Panel Title: Youth, Technology and Revolution

In the light of the recent events in Tunisia, Egypt and in other Arab countries, Yahia Mahamdi, Laure Bjawe-Levine and Jimia Boutouba have decided to organize an interdisciplinary panel that will explore the origin, meaning and impact of these popular uprisings that have drawn the world's attention. The members of the panel will address these uprisings from the perspectives of the legacy of these bankrupt regimes, the role of youth and women in these movements, and the communications media that were used to galvanize the popular uprisings, particularly the extent to which social media were instrumental in the success of the two revolutions.

The Symposium took place on Monday April 25, 2011 in the St Clare Room (Learning Commons)
