Hear resident new music ensemble, ADORNO, as they dazzle the audience with an evening of exciting music by some of today's leading and emerging composers. Featuring works by Charles Wuorinen, Dan Becker, Derek Bermel, and a west-coast premiere by artist/composer Steven Tramontozzi.

Teresa McCollough, piano
Postponed
Join new music advocate and world-renowned pianist Teresa McCollough for an evening of contemporary piano music, featuring the South Bay premiere of John Adams' Hallelujah Junction, for two pianos with faculty colleague Hans Boepple, and a newly commissioned work by Kurt Erickson for McCollough and members of the ADORNO Ensemble.

We are pleased to announce that renowned pianist Gwendolyn Mok will be giving a lecture/recital on the music of Ravel, performing on a period Erard piano. This recital replaces Teresa McCollough's recital, which has been postponed. Please check back for a reschedule date to be posted on our website in the coming months.

ADORNO Ensemble

ADORNO is the new ensemble-in-residence at Santa Clara University, where they perform recitals, work with SCU students, and teach a course with the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute on campus. On Friday, February 16th, the group will perform a free concert featuring the work of guest artist Derek Bermel and SCU composition faculty member Joel Friedman. Bermel, who performs the John Adams clarinet concerto with the L.A. Philharmonic in January, will also join ADORNO for the concert.
The ensemble will feature Bermel’s popular work, Soul Garden for strings, and Elastic Band, a jazz, pop, and a Stravinsky-influenced piece by new SCU composition faculty Joel Friedman. This dynamic concert features a post-concert artist talk and demonstration with Friedman, Bermel, and ADORNO members in an open discussion on popular music vernacular in concert music.
