Hispanic Ministry

Hispanic Ministry Emphasis
Santa Clara University offers an online Masters Degree in Pastoral Ministries with a focus on Hispanic lay ecclesial ministry. The degree, designed in response to a request from the Roman Catholic Dioceses of Region XI, represents a collaboration between the Graduate Program in Pastoral Ministries, located on the main campus of Santa Clara University, and the Instituto Hispano, located on the Berkeley campus of the Jesuit School of Theology of Santa Clara University.

The fifteen-course (60 quarter units) M.A. curriculum is taught by Santa Clara University faculty. During the academic year courses are taught in English through combination of face-to-face, video conferencing and online blended experiences. The online portions of the blended courses are synchronous, technology-supported discussions and lectures, scheduled in the evenings. The curriculum is enriched by a two-week, face-to-face, summer program in Berkeley taught in Spanish, offered by the Instituto Hispano at the Jesuit School of Theology. Students receive academic credit for the Instituto program through an online course bracketing the face-to-face experience. Students participate in three summer Instituto programs and will receive credit for three of the fifteen required courses for the M.A. in Pastoral Ministries. For more information please check
