Eirik Harris
Lecturer (Ph.D. in Philosophy, University of Utah, 2009; M.A. in Asian Languages and Cultures, University of Michigan, 2003; M.A. in Philosophy, University of California San Diego, 2001)
Areas of research and teaching interest include political philosophy, ethics, Chinese philosophy and comparative philosophy. He has forthcoming articles on the political and legal philosophy of the early Chinese thinker Han Feizi. Currently, he is working on projects in the fields of moral and political philosophy, with a focus on the early Chinese tradition, especially Confucian and Legalist views on the relationship between morality and politics. He is particularly interested in demonstrating that the ideas of these early Chinese thinkers can illuminate many contemporary philosophical debates and contribute meaningfully to discussions in contemporary ethics and political philosophy. Courses he will teach this year include Ethical Issues in Society, Ethical Issues in Business, and Chinese Philosophy.
