The following deadlines are hard deadlines--If you miss the deadlines you run the risk of not having your graduation paperwork processed by the Registrar's Office, and thus not graduating until the following quarter.  Please ensure that you meet the above outlined deadlines.

The Following Steps Must be Taken to Petition for Gradution:

1.  Pick up the "Graduation Packet" consisting of two forms from the Poli Sci Office (A&S 230)

2.  Fill out the forms: the "Petition for Bachelor's Degree" form and the "Pre-Graduation Evaluation" form (note: only fill out the top portion of the pre-evalulation form up to "cohort year")

3.  Take the Senior Exit Survey on-line at http://www.scu.edu/cas/polisci/students/exit-survey.cfm

4.  Turn in the two above listed forms to Therese Mathis, Poli Sci Advising Admin, in A&S 230, by the above outlined dates.  The Poli Sci dept. will complete the forms and e-mail you when they are ready to be picked up.  NOTE: Your graduation paperwork will not be returned to you until you complete the Senior Exit Survey.

5.  Pick up your graduation forms from the Poli Sci dept. office (we will contact you via e-mail when your paperwork is ready) and drop it off at the REGISTRAR'S OFFICE, located in Walsh Admin Building 201.

*** Special Note: Students seeking DOUBLE DEGREES will need to first submit all graduation forms for both degrees plus the "Petition for Double Degrees" form to NEDRA SHRUNK IN DRAHMANN by the above outlined dates.  She will contact you once they are completed to pick them up.  You will need to drop the all forms off at the REGISTRAR'S OFFICE after picking them up.

B.  Missing Requirements:

The University Registrar will review your coursework and ensure that you have met all academic requirements for graduation.  If you are missing requirements the Registrar will request that you return to SCU to complete all missing requirements, which includes but is not limited to coursework you may drop after the graduation paperwork has been submitted.

***SPECIAL NOTE: You can participate in the June Commencement ceremony if you are within 10 units of completing all requirements for graduation.

C.  The Senior Exit Survey

The Senior Exit Survey asks you to provide a completely annonymous evaluation of the Political Science Department.

  • You MUST complete the Survey once you have started it.  Your work CANNOT be saved to complete at a later date.
  • Use the "tab" key to navigate through the survey, NOT the "enter" key.  If you hit the "enter" key your survey will be sent to the database before you complete it, resulting in you having to take the survey over.
  • Allow yourself anywhere from 5 minutes to 30 minutes to complete the survey.  It all depends on how much you have to say.
  • Please note the survey is completely annonymous.  Your name and ID# will not be associated with the survey itself; we ask for them only to ensure that you have completed the survey before the chair of the department signs your graduation paperwork.  The results of the survey will not be released until months after graduation.

D.  Participation in Commencement Ceremony

If you plan to participate in the Commencement Ceremony in June you must fill out and return the Undergraduate Response Form which will be mailed to you by the Commencement Office, OR complete the form on-line no later than May 19th, 2009.  The on-line form can be found at http://www.scu.edu/commencement/

***SPECIAL NOTE:  You can participate in the June Commencement ceremony if you are within 10 units of completing all requirements.

Lastly, Congratulations on your achievement!
