ClubsSCU Pre-Health ClubPresident: Ha Le, Hle1@scu.edu The SCU Pre-Health Club seeks to help students understand and organize the medical and/ or other graduate school process while providing guidance, support and health related information in a safe, intellectual, and familiar atmosphere. Current issues surrounding the medical field are presented for student discussion and awareness. CHE: Chicanos in Health EducationPresident: Jaime Andazola, JAndazola@scu.edu CHE (Chicanos/Latinos in Health Education) helps to provide information to students about Medical School or other Health related fields and help the Latino community in the San Jose area. Our club was founded by Latino students whose aim was to inspire other Latino students to pursue a career in the health fields and sciences; however, our club is open to all students in the hope that other students will gain an interest in medicine and other health related fields. We provide students with information on summer opportunities such as internships or programs related to the health field or sciences, provide information on Medical Schools, Graduate Schools, or other health related careers, take field trips to visit Medical Schools within the Bay Area, and organize Medical Student Panels to hear first hand experiences from former undergraduates on how they made it to Medical School. In addition we also help the Latino community by organizing Health Fairs at a church in downtown San Jose and organize Science Days where we make silly putty with an elementary school class within the San Jose area. |
