Janet GiddingsLecturer (Academic Quarter)Janet M. Giddings was born and raised in San Francisco's Mission district. She survived the tumult of the 1960s while participating in anti-war demonstrations and working on political campaigns. Janet is committed to social justice. Years ago, Janet learned to raise money for social concerns and spent years in volunteer fundraising and development positions for various San Francisco and Marin County charities. She has been married for 32 years to Peter and they have a son, JohnHenry. Janet has taught at the college level since 1999 and loves teaching and learning. Her research passions are in the Gospel of John, philosophy of religion, almost everything in ethics, and pedagogy. Janet earned a B.A. in Humanities and Religious Studies at Dominican University of California. She earned a M.A. in Theology at University of San Francisco, and a M.A. in Philosophy at San Jose State University. Recently, she completed a one-year exegetical study of the St. Ignatius Spiritual Excercises, at the Jesuit Center in Los Altos. Janet teaches theology, philosophy of religion, religious studies adn ethics. Janet has been a lecturer since 2005. Professional Memberships: Janet currently serves on the Advisory Board for the Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences at Dominican University of California. |
