On behalf of the summer quarter student body, the Summer Session Office would like to congratulate Dr. William Dohar on his selection as the recipient of the 2008 “Excellence in Teaching” award.  A Senior Lecturer in the Department of Religious Studies, Dr. Dohar has been a contributor to Santa Clara University’s intellectual life since 2003.

Students cited his keen sense of humor, open mind and effective teaching method as catalysts for enjoyable and thought-provoking classes.  These virtues were particularly salient to students asked to re-enact witch trials.  The exercise made a challenging topic approachable and meaningful.

This coming summer Dr. Dohar will again offer “Witches, Saints and Heretics” and “Religion and Violence”.  His ability to stimulate compelling discussions will certainly continue to draw many.

We extend our thanks to Dr. Dohar for his extraordinary service to the summer students.  His effort makes a difference!
