Formerly the Chair of the Department of Theatre & Dance and the founding Director of the Center of Performing Arts, Jerald Enos serves as the resident scenic designer for departmental productions.
After graduating in 1979 from California State University at Hayward with a B.A. in Theatre Arts, Jerald went on to graduate school at UCLA where he earned his M.F.A. in Design and Theatre Production in 1984. Since then, he has worked on over 100 shows both within the United States and around the world, serving as Lighting Designer, Scenic Designer, and/or Director. He also worked on the 1984 Olympics as the Associate Lighting Designer for the Los Angeles Olympic Art Festival. In 1987, he designed lights as well as scenery for the Pope's visit to San Antonio, Texas.
Jerald is still active in designing for regional theatres across the country, and has designed for companies such as San Jose Repertory, P.C.P.A. Santa Maria, Stage Rep in Houston, and Bangor Repertory. He is also the company lighting designer for Teatro de Danza Contempoanea de El Salvador in San Salvador and Washington D.C.
Since joining the Santa Clara University community in 1988, Jerald has taught and currently teaches such classes as Theatre Graphics, Scenic Design, Painting for the Stage, Graphic Design, and Introduction to Theatre Arts. He also oversees independent student research and study in the area of scene design.
