The Phenomenon of Gee's Bend Quilts

Art historian Bridget R. Cooks will discuss the cultural history of quilts made by African American women in Gee's Bend, Alabama.  She will discuss the popularity of the museum exhibition, The Quilts of Gee's Bend, and discuss what is lost, gained, and learned when quilts are recontextualized in mainstream art museums.
