Casa de la Solidaridad offers you the unique opportunity to develop relationships with the Salvadoran people as you learn about the political, social, and economic realities of the country of El Salvador.
Living an existence in which it is a constant struggle to survive, Salvadorans have a great deal to teach each student.
Program features include:
- Being immersed and becoming part of a Salvadoran marginalized community—for example, collaborating with women’s cooperatives on their soy nutrition program or learning at a community center that promotes organic farming
- Integrating a reality-based community experience with rigorous academic courses taken at the University of Central America (UCA)
- Discovering the rich reality of rural El Salvador through a week of immersion in the campo (countryside)
- Learning about the history and current reality of liberation theology
- Immersing yourself in the Spanish language
