Griselda Renteria, now a special education teacher in the Cupertino, Calif., school system, began working with the Center's Character Education Program when she was a freshman at SCU.

The Bering Straits School District in Alaska has adopted the Ethics Center's high school CBL language arts curriculum,combining classic and contemporary American, world, government, and Alaskan literature with a research-based framework that allows students to explore these ideas in context with their own unique culture.

We are excited to introduce our sixth theme for the CBL Leadership program!
Leadership Requires Engagement - engaging life fully for the common good.
Leaders develop and dedicate their talents to promote the common good. This is where they choose to spend their time and effort. Leadership requires positive civic engagement. It is making sure that the communities I am part of are better because I am in them. And that I am better because of the communities I choose to be part of.

CBL Training is a free workshop for teachers, counselors, and administrators in alternative, special, and correctional education programs for at-risk students and juvenile offenders. It is hosted by the Mendocino County Office of Education.

Session 1: 10AM-12:30PM: This session will provide an overview to the Character Based Literacy program themes, novels and activities.
Session 2: 1:30PM-3:30PM: This session will review specifically Q4 and Q5 novels for Cycle IV.
