    Altar of Remembrance Dismantling
    Mission Church

    Thursday, November 20, 3:30 p.m.

    The Altar of Remembrance will be dismantled, please retrieve any personal items before then.  Any photos or mementos left behind will be kept in the Campus Ministry Office.

     

     “The Last Lecture”

    Thursday, November 20th, 7:30 p.m.

    SCU Recital Hall

    Father Mick McCarthy will be conducting a talk modeled after an ongoing series of lectures where top academics are asked to think deeply about what matters to them, and then give a hypothetical "final talk", i.e., "what wisdom would you try to impart to the world if you knew it was your last chance?"

    Free food will be served.

     

    Announcing Auditions for "The Life of Saint Clare"

    Thursday, November 20, 8 p.m. - 10 p.m.

    Lower Level Classroom of Mayer Theater, SCU

    Open auditions will be held for this original theater work, created by Kristin Kusanovich and Mark Larson, that will be performed in the Mission Santa Clara on February 17 -20, 2009. All levels of experience and all ages are welcome!     Guadalupe Celebration

    Mission Church

    Sunday, December 7, 2-4 p.m.

    This event presents a dramatic portrayal of the apparitions of Our Lady of Guadalupe to San Juan Diego in what is today Mexico City.  The play, which is a combination of prose, poetry and song, is presented in Spanish with English narration.  The celebration is free and open to all.

    Next week's collection will be taken for Five Talents International, an organization that, in the spirit of Matthew 25, empowers the poor in developing countries, using innovative savings and microcredit programs, business training, and spiritual development.

     

    Thank you for your stewardship donations last week. We collected $754.44 for Catholic Charities.

    Love Your Enemies: =Transforming Us vs Them Thinking
    Fr. Louie Vitale, OFM

    Tuesday, October 14, 7:30 p.m.
    California Mission Room

    A co-founder of Pace e Bene Nonviolence Service, Fr. Louie Vitale is currently the organization’s Nonviolent Action Advocate. A Franciscan priest, Fr. Vitale has devoted his life to peace, working tirelessly for the dignity and well-being of people everywhere. He is the co-founder of the Nevada Desert Experience and has participated in its enduring movement to end nuclear testing.  He recently completed twelve years as the pastor of St. Boniface Catholic Church in a low-income neighborhood in San Francisco, California.

    Fr. Louie Vitale, OFM will speak to us about the power of nonviolence and how we can use it to transform the way we approach others.  Fr. Louie has a long history of nonviolent civic engagement in which he has continuously challenged a culture of violence.
