Homelessness Awareness Week

January 28 - February 2, 2013

Sponsored by the Multicultural Center, the Santa Clara Community Action Program, Campus Ministry and Core Christian Fellowship, Homelessness Awareness Week is a week of events and service to immerse and educate our campus about the realities of homelessness.

    Watch The Soloist in the Shapell Lounge at 7:30 p.m. The Soloist, featuring Robert Downey, Jr. and Jamie Foxx, explores the realities of homelessness in America and its close connection to mental illness.

  • iconTuesday: PRAY

    Come to Nightlife with CORE Christian Fellowship and hear Pat Plant, Hunger Action Enabler for the Presbytery of San Jose share about ministry and homelessness - 7:30 p.m. in Kennedy Commons.
  • iconWednesday: LISTEN

    Join us for the Faces of the Homelessness Panel, 6:30pm in the Williman Room. Individuals from across the Bay Area and the country will share their experience and stories of homelessness.

  • iconThursday: SERVE

    Volunteer with SCCAP! Encounter the realities of homelessness through working with homeless kids and teens from local shelters followed by a dessert reflection in the SCCAP office: 6:00 - 9:00 pm in the SCCAP Office. To volunteer, email Laura Snowden.

  • iconFriday: LEARN

    Stop by our Tent City on the Santa Clara Mall between Kenna and Benson. Learn about the realities of homelessness through stories, statistics and students' volunteer experiences with homelessness.

  • iconSaturday: SHARE

    Join Christian Life Community, Interfaith Council and Christians in Action as they make, serve and enjoy a meal with local individuals experiencing homelessness in San Jose. Time: 10:00 - noon; meet in Campus Ministry. Sign up at http://bit.ly/10M9fRU or contact Katya Nemec with questions.
