Liturgy at SCU

Liturgy is at the heart of this faith community. We bring our lives together in prayer each Sunday and at major University celebrations, receiving strength from the presence of Jesus Christ in the Word, Sacrament, and in the people assembled. We are strengthened and emboldened to bring the presence of Christ to the people and places that make up our lives.

Liturgical Ministry is coordinated by various campus ministers and student leaders. Student ministers are assigned on a rotating basis to assist at the weekly liturgies, as well as at special celebrations. Students are invited to serve as Liturgical Ministers of the Word, the Eucharist, Music, and Hospitality. Music Ministry provides wonderful opportunities for vocalists, instrumentalists, accompanists, cantors, dancers and planners.

    We offer monthly Misas en Español, as well as collaborative programs with other campus departments.

    Weekly collections taken at evening Masses benefit organizations that are doing work to address the needs of marginalized people. Click for our policy on stewardship, as well as a report of last year's collections.

  • iconThe New Roman Missal Information

    The Roman Missal, Third Edition, the ritual text containing prayers and instructions for the celebration of the Mass, has been approved by the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments. First use of the new text of the new Roman Missal will be on the First Sunday of Advent, November 27, 2011.
