  • iconWeek of Prayer for Christian Unity

    The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, January 18-25, is a time set aside each year for Christians of all denominations and backgrounds to join together in prayer and action. Though our practices and beliefs differ, we are united in the person of Jesus Christ, and are all part of the one body of Christ.

    Join us for the following 2012 events, which are open to the whole SCU campus community:

    • "The Passion of the Christ" movie night
      We will be showing the movie "The Passion of the Christ," a graphic retelling of the last days of Jesus' life.
      Wednesday, Jan. 18 @ 8:00 p.m. (Campus Ministry)

    • Walking a Prayer Labyrinth
      Thursday, Jan. 19, 10:00 - 6:30 p.m. (Multifaith Sanctuary in St. Joseph's Hall)
      Stop by anytime between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. to learn about and experience walking a prayer labyrinth      . Instructions and information will be provided, and you can walk at your own pace.

    • Christians In Action - Serving with Project Open Hand
      Friday, Jan. 20 3:15 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. (contact Rev. Aimee Moiso or click here to sign up)
      Christian students of all backgrounds are invited to come together to serve the community through Project Open Hand in San Francisco! Transportation is provided if you RSVP.
    • Sunday Liturgy: Christian Unity

    • Women in Ministry Brown Bag Lunch
      Monday, Jan. 23 @ 12:00 pm. (Williman Room, Benson Center)
      Bring your lunch and join us for a panel discussion among Christian women serving in various ministries. Light refreshments will be served.
    • Prayer for the Body of Christ
      Monday, Jan. 23 @ 4:00 p.m. (Campus Ministry)
      All are invited for a time of prayer for the unity of the church, for which Christ prayed: "That all may be one." (John 17:21)
    • Student Bible Study on Christian Unity
      Tuesday, Jan. 24 @ 5:30 p.m. (Campus Ministry)
    • Loyola Liturgy - Our common faith in Jesus
      Tuesday, Jan. 24, 10:00 p.m. (Sobrato Commons)
      A student-led time of worship and reflection focused on our common faith in Jesus
    • The Challenge—“Faith and Service”
      Wednesday, Jan. 25 @ 8:00 p.m. (St. Francis Chapel)
    • A student speaker and discussion about the relationship between faith and serving others.

    Protestant worship services are held at various times during the school year, and for Ash Wednesday and Holy Week. Some events are listed here; other dates will be published as the year progresses - or keep track of events on Facebook.

    Want to attend Mass at the Mission Church but don't know what to do or say during the service? Worship aids are available in the Mission Church!

    The student club Core Christian Fellowship sponsors weekly Protestant-style praise worship called "Nightlife," Tuesdays at 7:30 p.m. Check the Core website for details on location.
