    This week is an exciting one with an interfaith discussion about the challenges and joys of balancing multiple faith traditions; Senior Hilary Titus at The Challenge; a talk about Climate Change in Asia and our Responsibility to the Poor, featuring Dr. Snigdha Chakraborty, Country Manager for Catholic Relief Services in Bangladesh; a panel discussion (and book launch!) about American women's experience of being Muslim; and, finally, a Mindfulness Retreat on Saturday.

    Religious diversity was recently highlighted at a Silicon Valley conference as an important form of diversity. Campus Ministry and the Center for Student Leadership led a workshop exploring stereotypes and assumptions about the topic. The Bay Area is one of the most religiously diverse regions of the world.

  •  Prepare for the Dalai Lama's visit

    On Wednesday evening, February 19, Prof. David Gray will talk about "everything you need to know about the Dalai Lama before he visits Santa Clara University." 6-7 pm in the Williman Room. Cookies and Hot chocolate will be provided. 

    We have an interfaith dinner discussion this Thursday, February 20.  We will be hosting Berget Jelane, a local Buddhist leader, for a discussion on Buddhist practice and Buddhist perspectives on interfaith dialogue. Berget teaches meditation at San Jose Insight Meditation center.  She is also a psychotherapist, so you psychology majors might especially want to come! 6-7 PM, Campus Ministry.

    There will be a screening of the Dalai Lama's lecture in Campus Ministry with bagels and juice on Monday morning, February 24. Monday evening from 6-7 p.m. in Benson Parlors B & C we're partnering with the Markkula Center for Applied Ethics to have a discussion/debrief session led by students Erin Callister and Jonathan Homrighausen. Drinks & snacks will be provided.

     

     

  •  Spring Search Retreat

    Mark your calendars for Search, the longest-running and most popular retreat at Santa Clara University! Staff and student crews guide "Searchers" through an energetic weekend of reflecting, sharing, and experiencing God's love in community. Though the retreat is grounded in the Jesuit, Ignatian spirituality at the core of Santa Clara University, individuals of all faith traditions are welcome and encouraged to attend. Registration will become available on March 31, the first day of the Spring Quarter, and is expected to fill up quickly.
