Remember 2012 Altar 1999

Remembering

During the month of November, we join Christian churches throughout the world to pray for all who have passed through death into the eternal embrace of God. Read Fr. Jack's letter about the many ways we will honor this tradition at SCU during November.

"Los Altares"

For fourteen years, Sr. Ana María Pineda's class has created an altar of the dead to celebrate and remember loved ones who have died. Read about this custom and an altar the Multicultural Center has created, as well as ways that you can remember your loved ones this month. The picture above is from one of the first altars in 1999.

Reaching Within Blog

New Blog: Reaching Within

We recently began a blog in Campus Ministry through which we are inviting members of the SCU community to reflect on how faith and spirituality integrates with various aspects of their lives. Coming up in the next two weeks are reflections on faith and the election.

Prayer Practices Intern

This new intern will be in charge of Weekly Wednesday Worship. Each week will focus on a different prayer practice. The intern will also coordinate the Labyrinth meditative walk and the prayer request program.

Ignatian Retreat Invitation

We hope you will consider joining us for this five-day silent retreat that offers you a chance for contemplative silence and deepening of your faith through private reflection, communal prayer gatherings, and spiritual exercises.

Search Prayers

We ask for your prayers for students and leaders as they prepare for the upcoming Search Retreat. This retreat depends upon community support (in the form of prayers) for its success. Thank you for remembering us.

Interfaith Prayer for the National Election

Interfaith Prayer for the National Election

Join Campus Ministry for an Interfaith Prayer Service on the eve of our national election, Monday, November 5, 2012, at 4 p.m. in the Mission Church. This non-partisan service will lift up our leaders, our nation, and our common life as we prepare for election day.

Ignatian Family Teach-In for Justice

Each year we send a small group of students to Washington, DC to network with people from other Jesuit institutions about issues of justice. The trip often corresponds with the anniversary of the UCA martyrs. Follow us on Twitter throughout the weekend of 11/16 to 11/18 at #IFTJ.
