Day 14: The K-Cup Challenge
"Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not." - Dr. Seuss
Many departments around campus have started using K-Cups to get their daily coffee fix. It is however always troubling to know that every K-Cup we toss into the garbage ends up in our landfill. Grounds To Grow On is an alternative way that each and every K-Cup can be converted into compost and energy. To find out more about their separation and grinding process please visit their website. We encourage you to try it in your office today!
Alternatively, reusable single-serve coffee pods allow you to brew one cup at a time. Reuse the coffee pod by adding new coffee grounds each time.
We invite you to think of OTHER ways you can enact this kind of practical change in your office or home, even if you don't use K-Cups.
What's preventing you from bringing your own coffee mug to work?
Are you using a reusable container for your drinking water?
Do you take the time to separate your waste into the appropriate bins in the break room?
What other areas can you reduce your waste?
We encourage you to share the simple changes you are making with friends and coworkers.
