Day 26: Oh! The Places You'll Go

READ:

“You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose.” ― Dr. Seuss, Oh, the Places You'll Go!

ACT:

Visit 511.org and use the "Transit Trip Planner" to find the best alternative transportation route to work, school, or another selected destination. And/or, join Zimride and see if there is a potential rideshare option that fits your needs. Pick a day in the next month where you will rely on a transportation alternative and put it in your calendar!

If you don't drive to work or school: During your walk or bike/ board ride, be very present with every step you take. Look up at the world!  Rather than looking down at your phone, notice your surroundings, say hi and smile at other pedestrians.

REFLECT:

Transportation by cars is very carbon-intensive. It is not only detrimental to air quality, but it can be also harmful to our emotional and mental health. Think about the last time you witnessed "road rage" from someone else or even yourself. When was the last time you felt bored or sleepy behind-the-wheel or distracted when getting to your next destination? Is there a way to avoid the negative aspects of driving? Can we lessen our carbon footprint in our daily commute by carpooling/ biking/ walking or public transit?
