Office for Multicultural Learning

About Us

Historical Background:

In 1999 through the Building Partnerships for Diversity grant from the James Irvine Foundation, the Center for Multicultural Learning (CML) was formed.  The Mission of the Center advanced multicultural education and worked toward improving the overall campus environment for diversity for all students, faculty, and staff.

In June 2007, the Building Partnerships for Diversity grant came to an end.  Diversity, Multicultural Learning and Inclusive Excellence initiatives moved to the Office of the Provost.  In the summer of 2007, the Office for Multicultural Learning was formed in conjunction with the Council on Inclusive Excellence.  The efforts and goals that were set forth by the Center for Multicultural Learning and by the James Irvine Foundation grant became embedded into the fabric of the University.  The Office for Multicultural Learning along with the Council will continue to promote diversity, multicultural learning and inclusive excellence.

In Summer of 2010, Office for Multicultural Learning moved to Student Life and is now located in 2nd floor, Locatelli Center.
