This project was proposed, designed, and implemented by Nicole Preiss and Gauri Saxena, Pre Doctoral Psychology Interns at SCU CAPS through the academic year of 2012-2013. Additional assistance was provided by the CAPS staff and the Office of Student Life.
The main goal of the Stress & Relaxation Interactive Program is to assist students with their stress management needs. At CAPS we often see students struggling with stress related problems stemming from their academic pursuit, personal growth, and relationships on and off campus. To address this issue we have been exploring novel and innovative approaches and techniques.
One of the major values of this program is its foundation in clinical research, which indicates that repeated practice of and exposure to stress reduction techniques improve anxiety and stress management. This program allows students easy access to continue practicing and improving these techniques. Additionally, the program empowers students to take charge of their own needs, increases awareness about personal well-being, and promotes a skill building focus.
