Welcome to the Cowell Center Student Health Services. Below you will find a team of providers who work hard to assure the health of our students. 

Calvin Ly, D.O., M.B.A.

Campus Physician
Dr. Ly graduated with a B.S. from the University of California, San Diego. He attended Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences (formerly the University of Health Sciences, College of Osteopathic Medicine) where he obtained his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine. He also has a MBA from Rockhurst University Helzberg School of Management. Following his schooling, he completed an Emergency Medicine Residency program at Case Western Reserve University/ MetroHealth Medical Center. He has worked as an Event Medicine Physician at the Cleveland Browns football games, a Flight Physician for LifeFlight and a staff physician in Kaiser Emergency Departments, Southern California regions, Anaheim and Irvine.  

Peggie Robinson, R.N., B.C.

Clinic Manager
Peggie Robinson is a licensed registered nurse. She received her nursing degree (B.S.N.) from San Jose State University. She also is board certified in College Health Nursing by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Prior to her employment with Cowell, she worked at local hospitals. Peggie enjoys working in the academic setting and assisting our students as they manage their health issues.

Pat McBride, P.A.-C.

Physician Assistant
Pat McBride is a California licensed physician assistant, with continued and current national certification. She received her B.S. degree from the University of Iowa and completed her Physician’s Assistant Program through the University of Iowa Medical School. She exercises much patience and compassion when working with patients and is very concerned about establishing good physical health care.

Anne Bradford, N.P.

Nurse Practitioner
Anne Bradford is a board certified nurse practitioner and a Certified Diabetes Educator. She received her B.S. in nursing from San Diego State University and her M.S. in nursing from the University of California at San Francisco. Ms. Bradford has a broad base of clinical experience including emergency room/urgent care, internal medicine, and endocrinology. She likes helping college students learn how to stay healthy through diet, fitness and stress reduction. 

Lisa Lommel, F.N.P.

Nurse Practitioner
Lisa Lommel is a licensed Family Nurse Practitioner who specializes in women's health. She received her B.S. in nursing from the University of San Francisco and her M.S.N from the University of California, San Francisco. She also received a M.P.H. in public health from the University of California, Berkeley. Lisa is currently a Ph.D. student in nursing focusing on Asian and Hispanic health. Her interests include travel, art, design, reading and yoga.

Margaret Johanson, R.N.

Registered Nurse
Marge Johanson graduated with a RN diploma from Hurley Medical Center School of Nursing in Flint, Michigan. Her nursing background includes Labor and Delivery in Michigan and Texas, and American Red Cross Blood Services in California. Her interests include preventive care and teaching patients self-care management so they can return to class safely and quickly. Marge has been at Cowell since 2012.

Alma Bello

Medical Assistant
Alma Bello graduated from Bryman College with a Medical Assistant Certification.  She has worked at Santa Clara University-Cowell Center for 13 years and prior to that worked at Camino Medical Group, Neurology Department.  She also works at Santa Clara Kaiser Permanente on-call for Urgent Care/After Hour Clinic since 2013.  She is dedicated to serving SCU students and community in keeping them healthy.  Her interests include travel, missionary work in Haiti, homeless feeding, running, cooking and keeping healthy.

Linda Lam

Medical Assistant
Linda Lam has been a Medical Assistant since 1993 and received her Medical Assistant degree from Bryman College. Prior to her employment with Cowell, she worked at San Jose Medical Group and private practices. She has been with Cowell for 15 years and enjoys working with young adults and helping them keep healthy.

Mary Mahoney, R.D.

Registered Dietitian
Mary Mahoney is a registered dietitian. She lives and works by the motto “Take good care of your body; you can never trade it for a newer model.” Mary graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Santa Clara University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics from California State University, Sacramento, where she also did a Dietetic Internship.

Mary blends psychology and nutrition in her role as registered dietitian and focuses on disease management and nutrition support. Her goal is to help others achieve a healthy lifestyle through improved eating habits and increased physical activity. She specializes in nutrition counseling and diet feedback. She offers workshops and healthy eating seminars. Mary loves working with young adults and her areas of interest include young adult nutrition, weight loss, wellness, eating disorders, fitness, and cardiovascular disease.
