It’s the summer of 1942, Jay and Arty’s mother has just passed away, and their father has left them in the care of their cold, strict grandmother. Unfamiliar with their father’s family—and quickly discovering why—the boys find themselves amid an array of dysfunctional relationships between their bizarre aunts, gangster uncle, and hardhearted grandmother. Humorous and poignant, this Pulitzer Prize-winning play explores both the intentional, and unintentional, lessons learned by these two brothers as they navigate their new life in Yonkers.
