Santa Clara recognizes 2 types of student organizations: Chartered Student Organizations (CSOs) and Registered Student Organizations (RSOs). There are currently 8 CSOs and over 100 RSOs. Each type of student organization has its own distinct registration process as well as different rights and responsibilities.
There are also several student organizations that are neither chartered nor registered. These student organizations generally receive support and resources from other University departments other than CSL and the Associated Student Government (ASG).
