Faculty and Staff Advisors

Faculty and Staff Advisors of Registered Student Organizations (clubs) are partners in the educational and developmental process for students who are members of these organizations. The Center for Student Leadership appreciates the role you play in assisting these clubs, especially the mentoring relationships you create with the student leaders in the organizations. Given the wide array and diversity of Santa Clara's clubs, you provide invaluable expertise in the development and promotion of the club's specific purpose.

The Center for Student Leadership intends to provide support and involvement opportunities for facutly and staff advisors without overly taxing your busy schedules. We hope that you find this webpage a resource in your search for more information and clarification. For further information about your role as club advisor, please visit the Club Advising webpage.

As a faculty or staff advisor, you must agree to serve as the advisor to the club during the entire academic year indicated. A full-time University faculty or staff member is prefered and must agree to the full scope of responsibilities negotiated in the Faculty/Staff Agreement Form. In addition, the advisor should agree to work with the club's officers in understanding the registration requirements, event planning techniques, maintaing University policies and procedures, ASSCU Bylaws, and Community Standards.

While faculty and staff advisors are asked to serve as a resource for University policies and procedures, you are not expected to be the authority. For more information about policies and procedures, please contact the staff in the Center for Student Leadership.
