Working in Groups (WinG)

Teaches students necessary skills to work effectively and efficiently as group members. As a classroom based workshop, WinG will help students develop their leadership potential in the context of working with others in group settings.

Who should participate?

Students involved in academic group projects.

What will you learn?

The full program includes:

• Strategies for designing roles and timelines to meet the group's needs including concept mapping and group contracts.
• A self-assessment exercise (Team Orientation Behavior Inventory) to help students identify their values and skills related to their ability to work in groups. For a copy of the inventory, contact the Center for Student Leadership.
• Discussion of how to use knowledge of one's strengths and weaknesses to effectively contribute to the group. For group and team roles.

How will you learn it?

Through a group initiative followed by a discussion designed to promote understanding of collaborative learning and the benefits and challenges of working in a group.
