CPD: Psychodrama - An Action Method of Psychotherapy9:00 AM to 4:00 PMLoyola Hall
Course # - CPSY x565
Loyola Hall Room 160
Credit Hours: 6
Course Objectives:
· You will understand how dealing with the past can become here and now issues
· You will learn why "warm ups" are important with all types of therapy
· You will learn how to use psychodrama techniques in your work
· You may personally benefit from participating in a psychodrama
Course Description:
Since psychodrama is an action method of therapy we will spend the majority of the time demonstrating psychodrama using our own issues as you learn how to apply the psychodrama methods to your practice. As a bonus you will learn something about yourself. In psychodrama a person is helped to explore the psychological dimensions of his/her issues through enactment rather than talking about them. We will explore the techniques of role playing, doubling, role reversal, warm ups, future rehearsal etc. as used in both group and individual therapy. Psychodrama does not require any acting ability and is a great source of empathy training.
Instructor:
Larry Wolfe Ph.D. recently retired as director of Health & Counseling Services at Santa Clara University. He continues to teach in the graduate program as an adjunct lecturer and is in private practice in San Jose. He has been directing psychodrama for over 35 years.
