Yes. Students receive a 15% discount. Alumni & SCU employees receive a 10% discount. SCU employees (not including student employees) receive a 50% discount off of CPR, First Aid, and AED courses.
Yes. The Health Education for Teachers course meets Standard 10 for SB 2042 preliminary credential.
Santa Clara University, Center for Professional Development is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists, and maintains responsibility for this program and its content.
Our Mental Health branch provides workshops that refresh and/or increase one’s potential in their profession and meet licensing requirements for Psychologists, LCSWs, MFTs, Counselors, Nurses, and other mental health professionals. We are accredited through the following organizations:

A “CEU” is a Continuing Education Unit. CEUs are awarded for all workshops. One CEU represents 10 hours of organized learning, which includes class time, projects, or other approved activities. Therefore, a 4-hour course would be worth .4 CEUs. A CEU is intended primarily for professional and/or personal growth.
A “CE” refers to Continuing Education hours. CEs count toward professional license requirements. One CE represents 1 hour of instruction. Therefore, a 4-hour course would be worth 4 CEs.
A full refund is given to registrants if the Center for Professional Development cancels the course.
If a registrant requests to cancel within 7 business days from the date of the course then a full refund will not be issued.
If a registrant requests to cancel more than 7 business days from the date of the course then a full refund will be issued.
If a registrant does not show up the date of the workshop then no refund will be issued.
Your personal information will be used by Santa Clara University for educational, marketing and administrative purposes only. Santa Clara University will not forward or sell your personal information to any third parties, unless specifically authorized by you. Santa Clara University does not electronically store your credit card information.
Most participants will receive a certificate at the end of a mental health workshop. If for any reason you do not receive a certificate at the end of the workshop, an official grade report will be mailed to you within three weeks.
No. An individual must be present for the entire workshop/course in order to receive CEs. Due to licensing requirements partial CEs are not awarded.
All workshops/courses are graded as Pass or No Pass.
Transcripts must be requested through the Office of the Registrar (408) 554-4331.
For workshops held on a weekday (Monday through Friday), a parking permit is required. To obtain a parking permit go to the security guard station located at the main entrance of Santa Clara University. Inform security that you are attending a workshop at Loyola Hall offered by the Center for Professional Development. A parking permit will be issued to you at no cost. You may then use the permit to park in the Loyola Hall parking lot
For workshops held on Saturdays or Sundays no parking permit is required.

Courses will appear on your transcript by the end of the academic quarter in which the course was completed. Therefore, if you take a course at the beginning of the quarter it may be three months before it is posted on your transcript. However, if you take a course during the last month of the quarter you will see the course posted within that month.
