Graduate Student Association

What is CPGSA?

The CPGSA is an acronym for the Counseling Psychology Graduate Student Association. This is an association of Counseling Psychology graduate students who volunteer their time and energy to serve as the "voice" of the collective student body. The purpose of the CPGSA is to provide a forum in which all interested students can increase their involvement.

Who can join?

Anyone who is a student in the Counseling Psychology department at Santa Clara University is already a member! Everyone enrolled in the CP program becomes an automatic member since association dues ($25.00) are collected from student fees.

Tim will be starting his second year in the program this fall in the combined MFT/LPCC track. He is very interested in further exploring mindfulness and it's neurobiological connection to attachment. Tim has already explored leadership among the CPSY community in an effort to expand the 2011 summer course offerings through petition and raising awareness.

Kristin will be a second-year student this fall pursuing the joint MFT/LPCC track with an emphasis in Health Psychology. Kristin's interest areas are in the psychological implications of stress management, health behavior change, and the treatment and management of specific disorders. In the GSA, Kristin hopes to increase the opportunities for student feedback in the academic environment through focus groups and an more informative department website. You can find Kristin serving her community as a BASICS facilitator in the Wellness Center and as a fitness instructor on and off campus.
